Research Interests
My research focuses on how the respiratory system limits exercise performance in healthy and diseased populations. I examine ventilatory dynamics, expiratory flow limitation, mechanics, the perception of breathlessness, and the unpleasantness associated with breathlessness in my research. In the future, I will continue to perform similar research but in obese populations. For example, what are the respiratory limitations in 1) obese children 2) older, obese adults, and 3) obese adults with COPD? Further, I'm interested in how exercise training and or weight loss can be used as interventions to improve the potential respiratory limitations observed in these populations.
