I finished my undergraduate degree here at Appalachian State University with a B.S. in Exercise Science. I am a first year M.S. Candidate for Clinical Exercise Physiology. After graduate school I plan to go onto Physician Assistant School and become a PA in a still undetermined field of medicine. For the last two years of my undergrad I worked with Dr. Marco Meucci researching effects of obesity on children and adolescent youth and how it correlates to increased risk of CVD, diabetes, hypertension, and other related diseases. As a certified Phlebotomist I volunteered some of my summer to the Community Care Clinic that provides free healthcare to the surrounding community for those without health insurance. I also volunteered at the Paul H. Broyhill Wellness Center for the AdFit summer camp where kids from age 11-13 with a BMI in the 85 th percentile could learn about health and fitness while having fun in the process. On that note I love spending time outdoors in the free time I have. I enjoy running with my roommates dog as well as going on hikes along the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.

I am an Exercise Science Preprofessional major. My goal is to be a Surgical Physician Assistant in the Emergency Room while incorporating alternative medicine into my practice. I am currently enrolled in an EMT Basic course to do my clinical hours during my gap year before applying to Physician Assistant school. I am a cycle instructor on campus and I am also starting my own club called MEDLIFE. MEDLIFE is an organization that partners with low-income communities in Latin America and Africa to improve their access to medicine, education, and community development. I will support MEDLIFE by taking a group of student on a Service Learning Trip to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania to set up a mobile clinic and shadow health care professional, as well as supporting the MEDLIFE Project Fund, and being an advocate for student empowerment.

I am a Senior Exercise Science major with plans to graduate in the spring of 2019. Along with finishing up my undergraduate career, I am starting my Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology here at Appalachian as a part of the newly offered accelerated admissions program. Along with working in the Sports-related Traumatic Brain Injury Laboratory with Dr. Rogatzki, I work with Dr. Meucci in the Human Performance Laboratory as his Undergraduate Research Assistant. Along with my research, I am President of the Exercise Science Undergraduate Research Journal Club (ESURJC), a new club that functions to provide ASU students with an opportunity to become involved with and strengthen their ability to perform research as well as connect club members with university faculty and resources that will enrich the undergraduate academic experience.
