All student learning outcomes come directly from the CEPH accreditation MPH foundational competencies. Through their education in the Master of Public Health, successful students and graduates of the program will:

Evidence-Based Approaches to Public Health

  • Outcome 1. Apply epidemiological methods to settings & situations in public health practice
  • Outcome 2. Select quantitative & qualitative data collection methods appropriate for a given public health context
  • Outcome 3. Analyze quantitative & qualitative data using biostatistics, informatics, computer-based programming & software, as appropriate
  • Outcome 4. Interpret results of data analysis for public health research, policy or practice

Public Health & Health Care Systems

  • Outcome 5. Compare the organization, structure & function of health care, public health & regulatory systems across national & international settings
  • Outcome 6. Discuss the means by which structural bias, social inequities & racism undermine health & create challenges to achieving health equity at organizational, community & systemic levels

Planning & Management to Promote Health

  • Outcome 7. Assess population needs, assets & capacities that affect communities’ health

  • Outcome 24. Apply theories and models of health behavior when designing and planning interventions targeting rural populations
  • Outcome 25. Evaluate specific environmental factors such as population growth, determinants of health, communicable disease, food safety, air quality, solid/hazardous waste, and water that play a direct role on human health
